Survivair Puma SCBA
Survivair's PUMA™ is the first NIOSH-certified, OSHA-compliant, hooded pressure demand SCBA designed to fit over beards and glasses. The PUMA is a Cougar with a tight-fitting hood. The hood is made from Responder Plus® material, one of the finest haz mat suite materials available. The Puma has a flexible neoprene neck seal that allows the user to wear a breard, as long as it doesn't break the seal. No need for specatacles kits--the user can wear normal street glasses (although a sports strap on the temple bars is useful to keep the glasses in place during donning).

MSA Gas Masks

The Millennium Chemical-Biological Gas Mask and the Advantage 1000 CBA-RCA Gas Mask are effective against biological agents and these chemical warfare (CW) agents: GA, GB (Sarin), GD, VX, Mustard, and Lewisite. Testing conducted by MSA and independent laboratories assures that the gas mask and canister meet the requirements for effectiveness against CW agents using the test protocol recommended by the Chemical Agent Safety and Health Policy Action Committee (CASHPAC). They are also effective against OC (Oleoresin Capsicum) Riot Control Agent and HCN (Hydrogen Cyanide), but, again, have not been tested or approved by NIOSH for these applications.

Polycarbonate lens outsert snaps into place over Millennium or Advantage 1000 facepiece lens, providing additional impact protection. Tinted outsert helps conceal identity (suitable only when sufficient light exists).

All skin should be covered when encountering any suspect CW substance. Some customers will be buying suits that completely cover the skin, although they are not complete containment suits. They will cinch down around the lens of the gas mask. A butyl hood, which protects against liquids,may work as additional protection.

Tactical Harness
The Tactical Harness has the same great features as the Classic Pullover Harness including easy donning and doffing, great comfort, and sub-pelvic support. Available with tongue buckle leg straps, the Tactical Harness has many additional features including waist level rescue loop. Other features include:

Automatic Dynescape® Descender
The Automatic Dynescape Descender is a rescue and evacuation device designed to automatically lower the user to ground level from a height. A frictional brake governs the extraction of the wire rope to a maximum of 6 feet per second.

Anthron Descender
The Anthron Descent Controller is a manually operated controlled descent device. It is most commonly used for suspended work positioning, self evacuation, or rescue operations. The device utilizes a cam assembly that provides friction on the rope to hold a load, or allow the load to descend at a controlled rate. To begin descent, the user depresses the control lever on the Anthron. If the control lever is fully depressed in a panic situation, the descent will stop. Other features include:
  • Proper roping/rigging diagrams on the side of the Anthron Descender
  • Device can be installed/removed at any point on the rope
  • Working load of 300 lbs (136 kg)

Performance of Millennium/Advantage 1000 CBA-RCA Canister Against Various Chemical Agents

MSA’s Millennium/Advantage 1000 CBA-RCA Gas Mask Canister has been tested to determine how effectively it can protect an individual against a variety of chemical agents (in accordance with CASHPAC specified on page 3).

This canister contains a pleated high-efficiency (HEPA) filter to remove aerosols and solid particulates, and an impregnated activated carbon bed to adsorb (filter out) gases and liquid vapors.The HEPA filter removes nearly all of the tear gas agents from the inspired airstream. Any small amount of tear gas agent that passes through the filter is adsorbed by the impregnated activated carbon. Sarin (GB),DMMP (a Sarin simulant), and HCN are also effectively adsorbed by the carbon bed.

The challenge agents are listed in column 1; testing conditions and requirements in columns 2, 3, and 4; and test results in the last column. The Flow Rate for all challenge agents was 64 ±1 Lpm, except for CK, which was 32 Lpm.Temperature was 25 ±3 degrees Centigrade.
